Dating Overload
Last week on Thursday I decided to look up dating sites on line. I was overwhelmed by the large number that were available at my finger tips. Even more shocking was the number of online dating for teens sites. I know we are a culture that caters to our younger people but I was surprised. I do not have any teens, but I do hear a lot of the dangers that can lurk on the internet for teenagers. I did notice that some of these sites go to great lengths to keep these kids safe while they are on their sites.
The internet can spark a debate when referring to teens. There have been eye opening shows that have showed us it can be dangerous. However, I feel with some monitoring they can have a fun experience in the world of online dating for teens. It can be a safe place.
My niece is 18, she is free to go where she wants and when, including on the Internet because she is an adult. We need to be careful as parents, mentors or teachers not to treat younger teens as adults and to expect them to make choices as if they were.
